i found the following once when i was looking for the same.

they were no good for me because they are reverse cooling.

Gen II = reverse cooling. No suitable on earlier Gen 1 motors unless modified significantly to work with the earlier Gen 1 standard-direction cooling system. I beleive there are one or two people on the board here who have done it, though- might want to search and ask around.

Those heads were used on 4th gen Camaros and Trans Ams (possibly Corvette) with the LT-1 motor (350 with fuel injection). They were the only LT-1 cars that got the aluminum heads.

Also, the intake manifold bolt pattern is completely different than any other small block. It's not 86-down pattern, it's not 87-up pattern and it's not Vortec pattern. It's it's own separate animal. I beleive GMPP makes a carb-style intake that will bolt to them, however.

really good heads, for somewhat cheap, if you can justify making the modifications.

I know "MeLeigh" has modded them for use on his 305 motor. (some style of LT1 heads, not sure if there many different LT1 heads out there).

There's also another member who made a detailed thread about what mods were needed, along with dyno results I think. I remember this thread because he made the comment he milled the thickness of fly **** off them to get them flat. Anyway that made me remember the thread existed... Maybe you can use that to find the thread.

IIRC there were 3 different Gen II aluminum castings. There was an earlier LT1 casting for the sub-300hp cars, and a different one for the 300+hp cars. Then there was the LT4 head as well. There's also 2 cast iron heads as well, for the non-performance Gen II motors, like the Caprice got. One for the 5.7, and one for the 4.3(?).

IIRC, the iron 5.7 head actually breathes better than the early LT1 aluminum heads, and the later LT1 heads were about the same or slightly better than the iron heads. The LT4 heads were lightyears better than the LT1s.
