Common Oil Leaks?
Common Oil Leaks?
just got my 91' RS up and running after 3+ years of storage, noticed that it is leaking oil, prob 1.5 - 2 oz in 24 hrs, haven't had a chance to get underneath and try and find the source, do know that is is not visible from the top. I'm not that mechanically inclined anyways and would probably have to post some pics of the source to actually identify it. I do remember that the same leak was present prior to its storage. Any ideas off the top of likely suspects? Hope to have more details on the source of it tomorrow. Would like any input you may have, Thanks!

rear main seal maybe
valve covers - common
or oil pan or timing chain cover. Heck, that's basically all the places it'd leak from right there.
oh, oil pressure sending unit too.

With a leak of this amount, should I be concerned about driving it and having whatever is leaking "give way" and really cause a big headache? The oil level on the dipstick does not seem to be getting low.

if you see a slight trace of smoke with the hood open and the engine off, you probably have leaky valve covers. But like sonix mentioned, those are about all the places that oil CAN leak. Where did you see the oil leak in relation to where the car was parked?
