Car being selfish, refuses to start...

I was working under the car today for no more than 10 ir 15 minutes, when I got done, I had tried to start the car but it would just keep turning over, and it wouldn't start at all. So after about 3 minutes later, I tried again, the car turned over and started, but then quickly died within seconds. It didn't hold an idle worth a damn.

I am thinking my fuel pump, or my fuel injector(s) is giving up. I have been driving the car all day, but that shouldn't really be a concern to me. There are many reasons why I suspect its a fuel pump, and why it could also not be a fuel pump problem.

Anytime after I am done driving the car, whether going to school, work, or just a quick errand, I always find myself smelling gas from the gas tank. The cap is brand new, and infact when I had changed the cap I specifically remember the car acting the same way it did before.

I am lost and open to any ideas at all, I am not sure why I suspect fuel injectors, I checked them out they seem to be operating fine...but then again I know nothing when it comes to diagnostics.

Any ideas?
