Dented Oil Pan - Should I Worry?

I am just finishing up my '92 Camaro, which has a new GM 350 and T5. Before installing the T5, I had the engine supported by the oil pan with a small scissor jack and a hard cover book (2" thick) between the jack and the oil pan. The purpose of the book was to prevent the jack from coming in direct contact with the pan. The jack/book was positioned at the rear most part of the oil pan, by the bellhousing.

Now, as I look at the bottom of the oil pan, I see that it looks like it may have been pushed-in/dented where the jack/book was sitting. It is not a major dent, but it looks like the pan was pushed-in a bit, maybe 1/4-1/2" or so...in a squarish, uneven depth shape in the pan (not perfecly flat). I don't have another oil pan to look at for reference, so it also may be normal for all I know, but it just looks like it is not right.

I have not started the engine yet and need to know - Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance...

I wouldn't think so. 1/4 to 1/2 inch isn't that bad, and I've seen people with golfball sized dents in their oil pan. You should confirm with someone though, as I don't consider myself an expert.

Thanks for the quick response...I went ahead and started the engine after having a friend look at the oil pan too...

Oil pressure is excellent, no noises, just leaking valve covers now - at least that's a sign of good oil pressure
