Faile emissions, THIRD TIME, Help!

Hi, I failed twice with high HC and CO. Finally I took it to a shop and they tested the car. First the O2 sensor was sluggish and they replaced it, and the car can get into closed loop again. From there they told me that EGR needs to be replaced since it was opening waay to soon allowing oxygen to fool the o2 sensor. Thirdly, the canister was saturated and the fuel was sent to the engine.
So, I replaced the EGR with the exact same one, put in a canister that I got from a JY that looked good and it was not saturated.
I also did a whole tune up with a new coil, distributor and cap, pluggs, IAC.
The car runs great now, much much better than when I bought it. However, the emissions were a different story.
The HC was. 4.6 out of 2.5 limit
and CO was 46 out of 20 limit.

This was the best reading so far but my temps expire in two days (I am sure I can get them renewed for a week at least), but its just pissing me off.

I made sure that I plugged in the air line that was going to the manifolds just to eliminate the possiblity of the air pump throwing air throught there after warm up.
I feel like the shop threw me for a loop because they said that the car should pass with the EGR and the canister disconected. So they recomended that I change them.

, ummm...I think U need a new shop....the egr valve being open will never hurt emissions, just drivabilty, it should only be closed on 3 conditions....engine is cold, engine at idle, and the engine is at accelerating hard, and it would defiantly not cause oxygen to fool the O2 sensor, all it dose is allow exhaust gasses into the intake, (which are more or less inert) to take up some of the volume of the intake charge, which cools off combustion (less fuel air to combust) reducing NOX emissions, with high CO and HC levels it means you have unburnt gas in the exhaust and either you are running rich or your timing is retarded

Fuel preassure drops from 43 to about 20 in a second. So, its either the injector or few leaking, or the diaphragm on the FPR is out. We'll find out! Soon!

well...that would defenatly be a cause, also you might want to look at the fuel pump, if it's not providing enough pressure it will cause the injuctors to drip fuel into the manifold onsted of misting it, which would also cause it to run rich

You really think that a fuel pump will make it run rich??? What are the reasons for the pressure droping immidiatelly.???

it's most likly a bag reg or a leaky injector, but the bad pump is somthing to keep in the back of your mind
