dead car
i just posted on a previous post but i need serious help, today i drove my car to school and then home without a problem, then to work without a problem and then when i was about to leave work i was driving through the parking lot, turned on my lights and the car died. now yesterday i was replacing the valve cover gaskets and was unaware that i was supposed to disconnect my battery, the cover hit the power connection on the alternator and sparked.but the car drove fine today except for transmission lag, but it's been like that for a while. any suggestions, someone had said that it was probably the ecm. but i'm hoping it's something simple.

Have you tried jump starting the car? I would check you battery volt level. It sounds like your alternator might not be putting out any power and you were running off your battery. Once you turn on your lights your battery died killing your car.

nope that's not it, it's like a 6 month old battery, i jumped the starter and it cranked but with the key on it wouldn't start, thanks for the thought though

ok i found the problem and fixed it! one of the previous owners had funked up some wires going from the positive on the battery to the starter and they were loose, so it's all taken care of now.
