Oil pressure sender
Im sure someone knows the answer to this. Is there an oil pressure switch that has a pressure sender built in? Like a 3 wire version. I have the big bulb mounted by the distributor and I would like to eliminate that. I want to use that for my Oil feel to my turbos. I dont want to remote mount that sensor if i can get a combo switch/sender. Thanks

there's also usually a provision in the front of the block just above the timing chain cover on the passenger side that can be used to test oil pressure. most of the time you can use the one down by the oil filter too if you can route wiring/hoses around the exhaust.

Why would they do that on some blocks and not others? We don't use them for anything that I am aware of, so why would they put them there in the first place?

As far as I know, they were used originally for the optional partial-flow oil filter setup on the very first SBCs.
Apart from that, they're a pretty convenient place to temporarily put an oil pressure gauge, that's about it.

Temporarily? Oh crap, I've had mine in for year's! Now what am I goin to do?
Seriously though, I like to think that GM gave us speed freaks an option to mount manual gauges! so we wouldn't have to hack up the original wiring harness.
