F-Body Storage
Okay, I know the basics for long-term storage of my F-body. Now, I need to go through the list, so that maybe this can become a sticky or something. If this is in the wrong forum, could someone move it?
I have just tuned up the engine. The plugs have less than 5,000 miles on them, along with the cap, rotor, ign module, ECM, and the wires resistance test to be okay. I know I have to disconnect the battery, but I will remove it altogether since I am going to replace it with one with a little more juice. I am going to have an alignment done and will replace the one bad tire at that time. I have a cover, and I have a place set up to store it. I also know that I have to add stabilizer to the fuel tank. Now, what I DON'T know is how do I keep my front brakes from rusting to hell while the bird is in storage? I just spent over $100 to replace all of the stuff that went bad when the brakes rusted LAST year, and I DON'T want to do that again.
Can anyone help me and fill in some of the blanks, if I have left any? The Bird is going in storage for at least a year, maybe longer.

longer than a year? Now that's a shame...
I'd drain the oil, and fill it with synthetic. I'd get some brake grease, and lube up the moving parts there. Maybe spray/wipe some grease on the rotors themselves. I'd put the car up on jackstands, rather than on the tires. I like to fill up the gas tank to the gunnels, no place for moisture to develop. And yea, stabilizer.
Some people say to throw in some of those moisture absorbative packets in the car, to try and slow rust. Perhaps leave the windows down a crack to let moisture equalize. If a cold climate, don't worry about this - warm - something to stop rats/ other unwanted critters. Some stuff something in the muffler tip, etc. Put a note in the car, on the drivers seat - like a note to self: make sure to clean off rotors before driving, remove rag from tailpipe, etc etc...

Anyway,
what else was I gonna say?...
Oh, yea. If it's gonna be stored in the humidity over a year, pull the plugs and put 3 squirts engine oil in each hole (PITA), spin over for 1 second, put plugs back in and pull the ignition key.
Don't forget to write a note to remember to thank me in 1 1/2 years when your cylinder walls aren't pitted...

Going back to school next fall, and I can't keep four cars in the driveway AND have one in the garage. Our town has regs against parking on the street between Nov 1 and Mar 1 from dusk to dawn. I don't know if I am taking the F-body with me next fall or the W-Body, but it's good to have this info, maybe even so others can use it.
