Sick and tired of AFR delays. Which is my next best choice for a 180cc head?
Sick and tired of AFR delays. Which is my next best choice for a 180cc head?
Ordered thru Jegs on July with promise to August beased on a factory order they had since February. Then they (AFR) said to drop ship last week. Today they say date is Oct 31st. I guess by then I better see a real witch with Santa than these heads.
I wanted the AFR180s for better low speed flow on a 350 TPI (Edel base, AS&R runners, fully ported plenum, XFI cam). What else flows as good or very close to these AFR? I havet he $$ burning in my pocket
TIA

Dart Pro 1 180 heads seem to flow close and probably as good if not better with just minor cleanup.

head with a ratio of over 90 percent, although rare, is capable of extremely good power numbers so keep an eye out for it. Check out the very high 85-percent I/E flow at .200-lift of the Dart Pro 180. This is an area of critical performance for any head, but particularly a street head that won't be run with much lift. Since the valve will see this area twice during every cycle, once on the way up and then again on the way down--as opposed to seeing max lift only once in every cycle--low-lift flow figures are often overlooked, but very critical to making the best power.

TrickFlow has 195cc and 175cc runner heads. I would get the 195cc heads if it were me. Check out Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030 for your heads.

get some dart 200cc or trick flows that are comparable. i really like the new dart iron eagle platinums, or if you want aluminum just flip through the summit website for your varous choices. remember iron heads make the same amount of power as aluminum, just the weight savings isn't there.

I have trickflows and am supposed to be making around 500HP. I got the CNC'ed ones. They look great when the motor is getting assembled. I think I got a pic...
Well I do, but not of the CNC job. Oh well. They fit/look great. I wish I had dyno #s.
Guess I will have some #s in the spring.

Take a look at the Brodix RR180 heads. I am running the RR200's on my 406 and the motor runs great. I do not have track times or dyno numbers but I do know that they fow better than the Brodix web sight lists. I flowed them at a local shop when I got them (don't always trust the manufacturer).
If you go the Brodix route, get the cnc chamber. I believe Summit sells these for a good price.
A truly undiscovered head.

You got me looking man. I think this is a new head (180cc) from them. The PN# BRO-1011001 at Summit has CNC int/exh runners and CNC chambers just like the AFR. The TrickFlows CNC heads TFS-30400006-CNC only have CNC chambers. Price is similar among all ($1300+). And these are in stock
Let me see if I can find the flow#s. I just need a good set of heads to finish my build. If I loose 5-10hp to the AFR who cares. I like the CNC treatment on any head so that's a buy factor for me. Thanks again guys

FWIW - The flow numbers that Brodix lists on the exhaust side look somewhat weak. When I had these flowed, the exhaust side flowed much more than what Brodix listed. Intakes were on the money. When I talked to the Brodix tech, he said they flow all of their heads without a pipe on the exhaust. I had mine flowed with a 1 3/4" pipe. Same size as my headers.
