timing and egr question.

Hi there.
My car is 1984 camaro, 5.0L
I am wondering what would happen if I plug my distributor into the ported vacuum port for the egr valve and leave the egr valve unplugged.
I got a new thermostat housing (chrome) with no timing retard swithe on it.
Thanx.

your distributor has a vacuum port on it?

Is this the stock setup? What country are you in?

EGR unplugged completely, will kill highway mileage 1-2MPG, but that's basically it. You can use a "T" on the ported port on the carb, and run the dist and the EGR off it.

Yes my dist has a vac port on it.
Acutaly the motor is a 307 from a 1980 olds ( Canadian ).
My main question is. what effect will I get with egr vacuum off or always on ( non ported vac ).
thanx
