Burning Rubber Smell Under Hood
Ok, i was driving down the road and I gunned it and was running the engine high and going fast. I smelled burning rubber for just a quick second, and when I got home, i could smell it faintly under the hood, i figure it has something to do with the belt. Nothing it laying on the exhaust. It just seems to happen when i gun it. I have a 89 350 TBI car without smog pump, but have a smog pump delete pulley. could I have a belt that is too big and not getting enough tension and slipping when i gun it, or something locking up or could the tensioner be going? Thanks guys!

That's all I can think of for sources. If you can't see anything touching exhaust, then yea, I think you're on the right course - belt slippage. Go out and make it happen, then go shut 'er down, and feel the inside of the belt. SUPER HOT, or... melting, would be key points to note. My guess would be one of the pulleys has some friction perhaps and or the tensioner...
But yea, I have no definitive answers...?
