Do you have the fuel injection and everything from the '96 Vortec 350, or did you put TPI on it?? Did you use the vortec heads and get a new TPI baseplate, or did you put standard heads on it?? All of these things affect the output of the engine.. More details are needed...

If it still has the Vortec Cam it is TINY. The same as the B-body LT1. A nice LT4 non Hotcam would liven things up some. Even though the vortec heads flow well, some exhaust porting would really help. The compression ratio is already around 9.4:1 on the vortec, so there is not much to be gained there.

Edelbrock makes some NICE aluminum ETEC heads for the Vortec engine.

The Vortec 350 was produced from 1996-2002 and is still in production for Mercruiser Marine and Volvo Penta as well as for an industrial engine.

The stock HP ranges from 245-255 and torque from 330-340 ft/lbs. In most applications Peak HP was reached at a low 4,600 rpm and peak TQ reached around 2,800.

The camshaft specs are
Hydraulic Roller
191/196 @ .050
.418/.430" lift
111 LSA
107 ICL

You do NOT want the Hotcam. Beside the fact that it was produced for a LT4 which had much better headflow and a hell of alot better intake. It has TOO MUCH LIFT for stock vortec heads. You will have to cut down the valve guide bosses for guide to retainer clearance. The PRODUCTION LT4 cam has less lift and less duration.

how much will this increase hp? also if i change the heads which would be the best if it has to much lift?

Stock Vortec trucks were rated at 250-255hp and 330 ft lb torque or very close to it.

Would almost make a factory replacement long block for us lol

later
