best mods for under $1000
the other day i started my car and i noticed a little bit of white smoke commin out the exhaust so im thinking its prolly the valve seals. my motor only has 65,000 miles on it but its also sat for 10 years so i figure they coulda dryed up. anyways since im removing the heads to fix this problem i figure ill takle another problem while everything is appart, the fact that this thing is an outright dog...lol. its not the slowest thing on the road (around15.5 in the quarter) but it still pisses me off being 18 and getting smoked by spoiled rich bitches in their daddy's hondas. so im lookin for some bolt on parts to get the most for my money (poor college student). currently the car has the original 9.5:1 compression 305 and 700r tranny. only mods are a cat back exhaust with no cat and a H.O. camaro daul snorkal air cleaner with k&n filter. i have a little under $1000 for parts whats a good combo... headers? aluminum intake? what kinda head work can be done to the stock heads? any help is greatly appreciated

headers w/ y pipe
cam with lifters, pushrods and springs
intake (really like the performer RPM)
Or
headers w/ y pipe
try to find a decent 350 to drop in there with the rest of the money.
and tune your carb. they got a really poor tune from the factory, ecspecially if its high mileage.

I think that if your taking your heads off anyway to work on the valves and you have about a grand, i might look into getting some used vortec heads and a set of headers. Intake and carb tuning would be good too. You can actually probably do all of that and still have change if you do enough looking for used stuff.
