Vortec heads on a 305?

Engine: 400 sbc
Transmission: th350
Axle/Gears: 3.08
Vortec heads on a 305?
Ive searched and mostly came up with f/s ads***
Well I can get a pair of vortecs for 120 plus a trade..And I was looking into aluminum 58cc L98's for 400..
People say I will have to low of compression, How ever I was wondering why chevy high performance and car craft, have put them onto 305's?
Will the heads slow my car down at all? what would the affects of this be? I dont want to machine the heads for a 305 because they WILL go on a bigger small block some day

Well, i've already given my 2 cents on this before, so i'll clam up and let others give their opinions...
Only thing is - post a link to those motor build ups with a 305 and vortec heads! I'd like to see it!
2nd - Don't exist, I don't think. But 58cc aluminum ZZ4 heads (if that's what we're talking about?) would work quite well for your application I think.
