First off,
Welcome to the boards

secondly,
Attempting to decode your VIN 1G1FP23E4NL129768 ...
Warning - VIN longer than expected - ignoring trailing characters but continuing ...

Type Code Contents/Meaning
Country 1 USA
Manufacturer G General Motors
Make 1 Chevrolet
Carline F F-Body
Series P Camaro
Body Type 2 2 door Coupe
Restraint System 3 Manual belts, Driver Airbag
Engine Code E 305 ci/5L V8 L03 (1988-1992)
Check Digit 4 correct
Model Year N 1992
Assembly Plant L Van Nuys
Production Sequence 129768

This car has originally been a 305 .. sounds to me someone lied to you.
It is possible that you had a 350 swap... to know for sure we need the engine casting number.
Which is located behind your distributor, on the bellhousing mating flange. on the driver side it will
state 5.0LG or 5.7LG the numbers will be on the passenger side of the flange

Well yea, it was originally a 305, but they said it's now a 350, that right?
Check the casting stamp like nelapse mentioned. Good luck getting to it, it's kinda tricky.
What is this, Z-28, RS, etc? TBI injected, TPI injected, etc?

Only way to know for sure is to get the casting number off the bolck.

Other than that i would just assume its a stock 305, you wouldnt be the first person that got told its a 350! when its a lousy 305...

its an RS and an open diff, so i also dont have the g92 rear, so i know it was a 305 i was just trying to figure out ifit was swaped cause the guy said it was, regardless i didnt pay any more for it but i would kinda like the 350, someone told me that the valve covers on the 350 were wider then the 305 is taht true?

The valve covers are the same, even if you had a 400.

It's on the bellhousing, directly behind the drivers side head on a ledge. It is nearly impossible to see on our cars. The casting number will probably be covered in dirt/greese and have a bunch of wires in a wireguard sitting on it.

I ended up having to put a piece of paper on it and rub the numbers onto it with a crayon.

you can check the numbers at MorTec, Inc. Home Page

Also you should be able to find a partial vin of the origional vech the engine is from located on the front of the block on the ledge in front of the passanger side head, that will be there provided it isnt filled in with paint or if the block had been decked. There will also be a suffix code you can run on mortec if you'd like.

thank you, its been in the shop (something with the tranny) i was also wondering what size the stock rear end is and how many spline axles?

also what are the dimentions of the stock muffler cause im planning on replacing it with a force muffler some time this week

and how high is it safe to rev these motors? ive hit 5500 rpms acelerating at WOT but let off when i realized how high it was did i do any damage or is there no problme reving it that high
