what is this wire to my starter???

I've been having starting troubles the past week. First I had to bypass VATS, now I have that all sorted out. But there was still something that only makes contact intermittently. I got under there today to check out the wires a second time and I found this above the starter going into the main wiring loom running close by. I THINK the wire is black and yellow:

The thing is so blown out I can't tell if it was some sort of fusible link that's different from the other three, or if it was a connector that needs to be hooked up somewhere. I know someone here has got to recognize this thing.

Thanks in advance for helping me out.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Looks like it goes to the knock sensor; the thing that's about an inch from where the wire comes out of that loom, in that pic. It's black and round with a pin in the middle of it.

oh wow, i couldn't even see that when i was under there, it was too dark. the flash makes it obvious though, I would've known if I would've had a flashlight and seen the knock sensor back there.
