88 305 tpi serpentine problem help!
I have a 88 lb9 305 tpi out of a firebird gta it has the one belt serpentine system and it is in a 85 s10 and I NEED to remove the left bracket which houses the a.c and the a.i.r. pump as well as the tensioner for clearance for electric fans and a supercharger later on
How could I get the belt tight without a tensioner? and will my water pump run the wrong way?
I thought of putting a small lfting device on the alternator to tension the belt
if anywone has any ideas or pics please help
p.s. I live in canada where nowone gives a crap about emmisions

Look for the older (say 86) brackets for the right side of the car, not sure if they will work for your application since they were serp/v-belt combo, but you can adjust the alternator for tightening your belt. I dont know if they will line up, never tried it. Maybe someone else could help ya out on this.
Also depending on what setup you go with for the water pump only matters on what side of the belt will be in contact with the pulley on the pump. If it ends up on the backside of the belt, then its reverse flow. If its on the rib side of the belt, its normal flow.
And if was me, ditch the air pump (I assume your already in the process).

brackets
I took an entire bracket system out of an 86 caprice. Any mid eightys V8 should have what you need. I took the belts, pullys, alternator, and fan. (be sure to grab studs from waterpump shaft). Then buy a new water pump for the application you took the brackets from. attached is a pic. the engine was originally a 89 5.7 TPI
