Do some checking first. Engine at normal op temp, feel your heater hoses. Should be hot all the way up to & out of the heater core. If not backtrack feeling hoses. Check the water control valve to make sure you have flow coming out of the valve. Valve is vac operated - so check for vac, or apply external vac source to ensure its working. You could also have a clogged heater core. Any cooling system work done recently?
Good luck

You do have enough coolant correct?
On my old car, the air from my heater would randomly be hot, cold, hot cold, and a couple weeks later, it started overheating
Put some coolant in, cured both problems
