stuck bolt

I had my water pump go out on me about three days ago. We had to cut two bolt heads off because they were stripped. One of the bolts was one that held the water pump on. So after finally getting the pump off we are left with the rest of the bolt stuck in there and I've tried every thing I can think of, but I just can't enough grip on it. So my question does any one have any ideas on how I might be able to get enough grip to get it out? Thanx, by the way its an 89 Camaro with the 2.8 litter if that helps any.

Soak it with penetrating oil for at least a few hrs, the longer the better(preferably overnight). Use a large set of Vise-grips and try to turn it. If the penetrating oil doesn't work; apply heat to the block right next to the broken bolt while trying to turn out the bolt with the vise-grips
Above all be patient. If you break it off flush, you'll probably wind up drilling it out and re-tapping the hole.

Another option is to weld a nut to the protruding bolt shank. I've tried it a few times and got mixed results.

Give the penetrating oil a chance, if allowed to soak in, it works wonders.
