knock sensor wire or coolant temp?

I have a 89 350, which wire goes to coolent sensor and which one for knock sensor? they are both one pin, one is yellow with a white plastic connector and the other is purple or black with a black connector? thanks for any help.

One is a knock sensor like you said - the other is the FAN SWITCH - not the coolant temp sensor. Turn the key on (no run, just on), and ground each one at a time - the one that is for the FAN SWITCH will make the electric fan start running when it's grounded and key is on.

The fan switch is in the head, the knock sensor in the block.
