Timming,what should i set er on?
just wondering what any of you guys think i should set the timming on.its a 305ho with performer rpm intake and a bigger cam.i don't know the size of the cam the guy i bought the car from said he put a bigger cam in it.i plan on going back to his house sometime soon and asking him(lives 2 hours from me).its on 6* right now.

Get an advance timing light. Disconect the vacuum advance and set the timing while reving the motor to 32-36deg BTDC.
Make sure you rev the motor up high enough (3000++ rpm) to max out the mechanical advance timing while checking with the advance timing light. Once you've done that note the amount of timing this method causes at idle. Should be about 12 to 16 with most stock distributors.
Then you can re-connect the vacuum advance.
if pinging results increase the fuel octane (92) and change the spark plugs for AC R42T or Champion RV8C gapped at .035".

These distributors are for a computer controled motor and have no internal advance mechanism. Timing does not adance when the motor is reved. In that case set the timing at 32-36deg at idle. You should swap to a pre computer era mechanical/vacuum distributor.

the motors a carbed,and the disribitor is the big one.i have no idea why there an't a vacume on it and some guys don't know why.was told it was electronic controled instead of vacume.but i'll just try start on 12* at idel and see what happins

ok set the timming on 12* today,no pings runs great.must be a good cam then,plus i modded my stock duel snorkel breather and it fits under the hood with that performer RPM intake,just can't put a wingnut on it,thanks guys
