Starter overheating?
Whenever I turn my car off and then start it right back up (example: getting gas) the starter cranks really slow, like the battery was low or something, but it starts cold just fine. My friends and I think the starter is just getting too hot. Is there any solution to this? Its a brand new starter and I don' remember having this problem with my old one. Is there a better starter to buy? I don't really want to have to heat wrap the header. I know Longacre makes starter wrap, does it work? Is that my last resort?
Thanks ahead for any help

You can buy a starter heat shield which helps. Little piece of tin for like $12, which guards it from heat.
Making sure your electrical connections are good and clean, and timing is not too high, will also help.

I just went to autozone looking for just such a piece and they don't have it. My timing isn't too aggressive and all the wiring and contacts are new.

I live in AZ, 100+ degree weather is standard
out here, Starter problems are common.. But
usually when a starter cooks, It generally does
not want to move or make a sound at all untill
after it is cool enough. Yours simply cranks, but slowly.. Double check all grounds, and leads.
Back to the heat wrap..It looks like a fire blanket,
kind of a aluminum foil exterior with vel-cro ends.. You simply wrap it around the starter nice and tight.. and it works like a charm.. Im sure shields work just the same but.. more time consuming to install.
Good luck
