Valve covers dented from underneath

My right side valve cover is dented from underneath like the first two rockers is hitting it. It sounds like it too. Also, it runs rough. What is happening here??? There is only about 200 miles on it after cam install.

I have tall valve covers. It is till running rough. There are new plugs, clean dist cap, new wires, no vacuum leaks. Does this sound like the valves are messed up?

Whats the lift on your cam? whats the length of your pushrods?

Normally tall valve covers work right up to a .650 gross lift....

I took my cover off the other day. To find that the metal the that they put below the oil entry was worn off. I have edelbrock valve covers.

I am unsure of the lift on the cam and length of pushrods. I will find out tomorrow.

If the valves are out of adjustment, how do you adjust them?

you can do it 2 ways:

With the engine running, turn each adjusting nut so that they stop taping...

or

engine off:

Turn the engine over so the the valve is closed, turn down the adjusting but while trying to spin the push rod. When the push rod just starts to begin to be hard, stop and turn it 1/2 more more....

I took it back to the guy who put the cam in. He said it sounded like the problem it was a rocker backing off.
