Torx head bolts

What retarded *** clown decided to put torx head bolts on the camaro. Every bolt I have tried to take off has stripped out and I have had to grind them off. Even on the serpentine brackets are all torx head. For Christ's sake even the intake manifold bolts were torx(and had to be ground off). This is the most retarded thing ever.

Have you tried using the proper sized torx ratchet attachments? I have yet to have a problem with them at all. I find that if I use the right size, there's virtually no stripping at all because of all the grip. :/

I, as well, at first hated torx bolts. I also had a cheap set of japanese torx bits, which were made out of soft metal and were ever so slightly smaller than the actual star on the bolt. Then I picked up a Craftsman set and it was totally a different story.

What you need to do is pick up a good quality American set from Craftsman and THEN tell me what you think of them...

Hell my 3.1 has few torx most are in the interior. But it does have the star heads.Takes socketts that look like a 12 point but only have like 6 points. No issues here when i have ta remove 1 i replace it with a regular bolt unless it's a damn stud.

Yea I did its just that the engine was so old that everything was set in there prety good. I bought a replacement stainless bolt set with sleeved allen heads for superior grip so hopefully I won't have this problem again. I did buy a craftsman set for taking of the serpintine system they did make a big difference but I still would have preferred the hex head bolts.

Yeah I understand, most people hate them because they arent conventional, and they force us to go buy a new 40$ tool kit with new bits. But in retrospect, they arent all that bad.

a cheap set of Japanese torx bits?? dont confuse japan with china, if you find some tools lying around from japan you probably want to keep them

that being said just be glad they didnt use philips head screws... they probably would have if they could have torqued them down sufficiently at the plant ;0
auto manufacturers dont really want you taking stuff apart in the first place, and if it just ends up costing you more $$/hours in labor when something needs fixing, ++ for them
