Need advice and insight on block selection.

I'm gonna need some help pickin out a block.
I would like to keep a one piece rear main seal.
I'm gonna be running a carb so Fuel delivery is gonna have to be figured out(mechanical or electrical pump).
No exotic blocks and 4 bolt mains is not required(I want no more than 400RWHP).
I wanted to know what people would think of and L98 block or should I just go an older 350 block. I am gonna eventually drop in a t56 trans so I don't wanna complicate things too much.

I was thinkin that if any of you knew which applications came with these features but I would pefer a roller block. I'm gonna be selling most of my new unused valvetrain stuff soon.

What's wrong with the 350 block (and other engine parts) in there now?

Yea, an L98 block, or any newer roller 1pc rms engine would be best, easy cheap roller cam setup in that.

I'm not sure if the L98 block has mechanical fuel pump provisions on it. I'm pretty sure later ones like vortec blocks and TBI blocks do NOT have provisions for it. Plan on running an electric inline somewhere, and a regulator.

The T56 shouldn't complicate anything. Anything later than mid '70s will have the correct starter bolt pattern for a 12.8" flywheel.

Ya I was interested to know if the TPI blocks were able to take a mechanical fuel pump.
