stumble and stall at idle?

Ive got a TBI that stumbles and eventually stalls at a stoplight in gear. It is throwing code 32 (EGR) If I hold the brake and bring the rpms up to 1000 the car runs great. If the car is not in gear, it slowly idles rougher and rougher until it finally dies if I dont hold the throttle. Also if I dont hold the throttle, upon take off it stumbles and hesitates for a brief few seconds, then runs perfect.

Is this a direct prblem with the EGR? Or is it something else like IAC or TPS and the ECM is trying to correct the issue with the EGR? The car was driven for quite some time without the Incoming Air Temp sensor (causing a code 23) Could that have casued any damage to anything like the EGR? The Air Temp sensor is currently in place, but the car runs the same with or without it hooked up.

if your EGR valve is always open its introducing too much exhaust back into the system, too much nitrogen. if your EGR valve is hooped then your timing suffers also. it could be the valve, the computer or the solenoid. take it to a shop and have them do a diagnostic...its cheaper for them do check it out then it is for you to replace all the parts on your EGR system assuming that its your EGR system at all.

Or ...if an egr is cheap enough , just toss on in .Migth be a good thing anyways. Someone told me if you can;t move the diaphram freely it's toast.
