You should be able to get the casting number from the engine block & look it up on mortec.com...

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
It has nothing whatsoever to do with EFI. There are plenty of 350 blocks with 2-pc RMS that came with FI on top of them. And even 283 and 327 ones.

Look at the back of your block where the crank comes out of it. If the crank is PERFECTLY round, and there's a big cast aluminum plate or housing sort of thing back there, it's a 1-piece.

If the crank has a funky shaped flange on it that looks sort of like a counterweight for some odd reason, and there's nothing else back there besides the block and the oil pan, then it's a 2-piece.

To add to that, with regard to 3rd gens specifically:

1986 - advent of one-piece rear main seal.

Before that:
1982 - 1983: LU5 "cross-fire" = EFI

1985: LB9 "TPI" = EFI
