Roller rocker question?

Can the TBI motor benefit from roller rockers? I installed the Crane Gold 1.6 full rollers in my LT1 and the difference was fantastic! They really increased low end torque which was the opposite of what I expected. Will the TBI also benefit? Will they clear the valve covers? Also they didn't require any tuning of the LT1's computer.

Roller rockers in themselves will not give you anything noticable. They will give you a little less friction in the valve train. Changing to 1.6 Rollers will increase the lever so you will have slightly more valve lift throughout the range of your cam so you will notice a little more umph. With a roller cam and its very fast ramp rates you will notice more of an improvement than a flat tappet cam with lazy ramp rates. That in turn gets the valve off its seat a little sooner and flow can begin sooner hence the better lower end. So in answer to your question is it depends on what your combo is as to whether or not it is really worth it. Whether or not it is carb,TBI,MAF or any other induction system is not really what matters. I personally would not do it on a stock TBI engine because of the crappy cam. Adding them to an LT1 with its more aggressive cam yes. Now if you were to put a LT1 cam in the TBI engine!!!!!! YES but then it would require prom tuning.

I put them on a near stock 350 TBI and got 15 RWHP from the rocker change alone. The truck already had headers and duals, that was it. The combination of the headers, duals, and rockers brought the air/fuel ratio from 11:1 in PE mode to 12.6:1 further increasing HP/TQ gains. The truck gained a total of 67 RWHP from the headers, duals, and the rockers. From 137 RWHP stock to 204 RWHP (I think the factory cat was starting to plug though as these trucks should dyno about 160-170 RWHP stock).

Cool, I am thinking about going with the Crane Gold 1.6 rr's and new valve springs. Thanks for the feedback.
