Quick Ignition Lock Cylinder Question!

I'm having a little trouble. I have a 1986 Camaro Z28 and I'm changing my ignition lock cylinder, and I have got down to the lock plate, which I can't get off because no where I go do they have the Lock Plate Compressor. Does anyone know of any tricks to get it off without the tool? I heard from a mechanic that you can pry it up with 2 wrenches then use an icepick to take out the little lock, but i'm not sure if I want to do that because I might have a hard time getting it back in.
Can someone help me out really quick? Because I am working on it today and I need to get it back on the road ASAP.
Thanks

where are you located at?

every parts america store (advance, kregen, ect), autozone and napa should have it......even if they dont know what the hell it is... lol.

while it is possible to have someone press one the plate while someone else pulls/prys the lockring out, its almost impossible to assemble it that way.

ive gotten them apart without it at the junkyard witht he help of a friend..... but theres no way you can get it together without the tool.
