Starter Question

Finally bought a new starter the other day and went to put it in last night. Directions are simple. I located it last night and climbed underneath to take it out. Unscrewed everything and unhooked the two wires. One connects to the negative on the battery and the other I believe connects to the switch terminal. Anyway, I pulled it out from underneath and climbed out to pick up the new starter. When I went back under there was a wire missing. The only wire there was the one that connects to the battery. It just disapeared, nowhere to be found. I searched for three hours trying to find that wire and no luck. Its a simple job to and this is what is holding me up. Does anyone know where this wire connects or how i can trace back and locate it?

Thanks Andrew

the starter wires are in the same bundle as the alternator wires, thers a 4-wire plug that goes into the alternator thats only if the alternator is on the passenger side. if you follow that bundle of wires you might be able to find the wire you need. if you have the alternator on the drivers side then your sol. it probably just fell back into some other harness.

never touched the thing. I left it hanging there next to the other one so I knew where they both were. Checked everywhere. Its a manual transmission, I don't know if that changes the wire locations. My uncle said check around the bellhousing but I could only reach so far. Does it make sense for it to be in that area or does it have to come from the altinator?

well in my car the wiring comes from the bundle of wires that goes to the alternator but is not connected to the alternator, looking around the bellhousing is a good idea, try to reach around, mayb look on the other side of the engine, keep lookin dude, id look w/ ya if i could but ur on your own.

sorry
