Coil Problem? Computer?

A few months back I put a Accel super coil on my car along with upgraded cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. One day I was driving back from the gas station and the car just died. I got towed home and I started pulling it apart and I found that the coil had shorted out and cooked itself along with the cap and rotor. I recently have replaced the coil cap and rotor and the car wont start. I have heard that the computer may be fried. I dont really wanna replace if the computer if I dont have to. Any suggestions would be great. Its a 1986 Camaro Z28 with a 305 TPI. The only up grades now are bosch premium wires and platinum 4 plugs and high po cap and rotor. ( had to buy a stock coil after that.)

Also I noticed the tachometer isnt working after the engine stopped running it seems to be stuck at 8000 does that have something to do with it? Maybe with the wires from the coil? I really need some help

1st check with a volt meter or test light to be sure you are getting power to distributor with key in run position.
