oil galley plug in lifter valley
i took off my intake manifold to change out a bad lifter and too my suprise there was an oil galley plug just laying in there.kinda chewed up.im thinking its one of the plugs right above the camshaft right?well what kind of problems is this going to cause me if i dont take the timing cover off and put it back it.my oil pressure is still very strong.60 psi at cruising speeds.

yikes! I'd be worried how it got THERE...? It'd give a big oil leak, loss of oil pressure to half of your lifters and cam.... Pretty bad thing i'd say.
May very well explain a "bad" lifter eh? Or, the bad cam you're about to find. Sorry.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
If the motor isn't acting wrong in any way, I wouldn't worry about it. It might have come from someplace completely else, like somebody accidentally dropped it down the distributor hole while working on the car, or some such. (not that stuff like that ever happens, right???...) There's basically no way it could have fallen out of the front of the block, and ended up sitting in that particular place.
How big is it? If you check the diameter, you might be able to determine if it was infact a gallery plug, or something else, like a tamper plug from a thottle stop screw, etc. There's no way you're missing an end plug and still making 60# with hot oil.
A gallery plug could have ended up in the valley if the car was previously owned by Joey Chitwood.
