700R4 SLIPPING from 3 to 4 gear

I resently notice slipping from 3 to 4 gear only. my transmission fluid is 4 years old but it looks ok in color. Its light brown in color and does not smelled burned.

change fluid and filter if that don't help change the trans

HUH... old oil Eats rubber.. thats why old junk cars are the way they are.. Lack of Basic Maintence..... Fluid Filter Change.. and prob a Flush.. the TC Holds quite a bit of fluid... I dont understand why people never flush the whole system..

you have a 700r4 right? not a 200C or whatever else was availabe in the earlier years.. While your in there.. throw in a shift kit.. It takes a bit more than throwing In.. But Geeze. LOL

If second is solid, the 2/4 servo (4th apply servo piston) or 3-4 accumulator may be a problem. Or it could be the common weakness of the 3/4 clutch pack.

There may also be low oil pressure for various reasons, including the pump, valve body, 4th servo supply or 2nd servo exhaust passages), or a governor.

If the problem is the 3/4 clutch, you don't need a shift kit. You need to install a 7-stack (or more) of clutch plates and steels for better engagement.
