1987 Firebird Starter Problem
1987 Firebird Starter Problem
Well i just picked up this 1987 Firebird Formula 350 tpi for a good deal about a month ago. then the starter died the other day, i crawled under there and disconnected the starter but i noticed almost instantly the amazingly horrible placement of the exhaust.
I got the starter loose and now all i can do is jiggle it between the exhaust and the A-Arm. It looks almost impossible to get out unless i take the exhaust off. Has anyone ever done this before!? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Yes I had to do mine twice last year.I had to drop the exhaust both times. If your exhaust is in good shape it's not so bad.

Also, did you make sure that the starter is bad?Is the battery good?Check for signal going to soleniod from the key(should be around 10 to 12 volts while cranking).Check for 12 volts power to the starter.Check ground at starter housing.

Not the acc position. You need someone inside the car trying to start it while you check the line from the key to the soleniod.
