Camshaft and Intake matchup?
Camshaft and Intake matchup?
So i recently bought a performer rpm q-jet intake, and an XE-262h cam from comp cams. My question is this, will these two work nicely together on my 305 LG4 engine? Or will they end up giving me less horse power than before?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Those 2 parts are in reasonable agreement with each other.
They may result in increased HP, assuming that there is no other more sever limitation that puts a cap on the engine's potential.
As far as whether the car will actually be faster or not, that would also depend to a great extent on what's been done to the CAR to allow the engine, as modified, to operate to its full potential.
The LG4 needs exhaust, all the way from the heads to the rear bumper. Every piece needs to go, and be replaced with something OTHER THAN LG4 stuff.
THe gears and converter are designed to force the engine to operate at low RPMs. Changing the engine's optimum RPM range upward, to where it's outside of the range that THE CAR forces it to operate in, will result in a more powerful motor making the car go SLOWER. Yes, it happens. Really.
What exhaust do you have? What gears? What converter?

I've got headers and 3" exhaust, with cut outs (which are often opened up). As for gears and converter, its just stock right now. with 3.23 (i thought these gears didnt come factory stock in an 86) and no posi.

What gears came stock in a car, and what gears a car has now, are often 2 very different things after 20 years on the road.
they're the gears that came stock on the car. Says so on the codes sheet. kind of a wierd little car though, we removed the dash so that we could do a heatercore change, and we found a tag for 1985. Also, its marked for -30 degrees celsius, december 1985. Wierd little car.

One that a whole bunch of people have used in your situation and been real happy with, is the one just below the one the guy who started this thread picked; the XE256.
