Redoing Vacuum Lines

I have heard people talk about redoing their vacuum lines. And with extensive searching, I have found nothing.

Replacing my heater core, i broke quite a few vacuum lines. I have the diagram, what will i need to redo all my vacuum lines from scratch. From the housing, the hoses and the connector for the hoses...

Like a part lists and stuff...thanks!!!!

I just replaced mine, and it's not a hard job. Simply find a line according to your diagram, trace it to figure out exactly how it runs, match up the size, then replace with a new hose. I have the 305 TPI, and I had quite a few sizes... 1/2" (which no parts store had), 3/8", 5/16", even had a few feet of hard emissions hose running from my EGR solenoid to my tank pressure regulator. That one had two T-joints and I had to replace an elbow at the end of it. I had to use fuel line for the 1/2" and 3/8".

I've replaced nearly all of mine. I prefer to use silicone tubing. It doesn't deteriorate and it's more malleable than that stock rubber crap.

Plus you can get pretty colors.

So how exactly do i do it, still confused...and how do i figure up sizes and stuff. and if i break hoses...what am i messsing up? wit more searching, still dont understand what this vacuum stuff does. How long to redo all the vacuum lines on a v6 Fi?

Sizes aren't critical. "Windshield washer hose" is suitable, and available at Advance. They also sell a $10 "vacuum connector kit" with all sorts of couplings.

You need to look on your diagram, pick one line, then put the hose in some kinda way. Use the couplers when necessary. Start with the lines that aren't broken. You see how they run? Well unplug one end, make your replacement line fit that connector, now take off the other end and make your other end fit that connector. Throw away the line you just removed.

It doesn't really matter how it runs, just get it there.

How long depends on how fast you are. It's simple and shouldn't take too long. Pull a bad one and run a new one. One at a time.
