how do i fix the throttle cable?

Engine: the 2.8
Transmission: 700r4 auto
Axle/Gears: stock one wheel squealer
how do i fix the throttle cable?
I just upgraded to iridium spark plugs and i noticed that my throttle cable is frayed badly and only about half of what should be attached actually is attached. I was wondering how to fix this because it would suck if it snapped or if the frayed parts got stuck somehow and my throttle got stuck.
Iknow the second one is extremely unlikely but it is possible and I've heard of and seen stranger things happen.
