tach and speedo
tach and speedo
ok so my tach. was reading to high so i decided to just unplug it till i get a new one and when i did this it did shut off the tach but it also made the speedometer not register... this shouldn't happen i would think. all i did was simple unplug the wire from the distributer that's labled "tach"... what's wrong here?

well just plug that wire back in it will fix your speedometer...
what do you care if your tach isnt perfect on automatic? not like you need it

well the tach is reading about 4500 rpms at only 80 mph and it causes my computer to go crazy and shut the fuel system off... so i need to have the tach not working so the computer doesn't shut the fuel off.

no you tach has nothing to do with your fuel shuting off unless you have the motor turning like 9k...
and an 1986 iroc has no safety measures that turn off fuel at XXXmph
and the speedometer isnt connected to the tach in any way i can see
could your tranny simply not be shifting into 4?
i dont think a 700r4 will shift into 4 at WOT
is that what you are trying to do?
