haha how is that?
These rockers have the poly locks with them. the stamped rockers just have a nut to tighten down.
i read somewere that you just tighten them down untill there is a slight drag on the pushrod (if you were trying to twist the pushrod you should tighten them untill there is a slight drag) and then go 1/4 more turn.

If your asking the correct way to adjust Valves then this is my method, you were pretty close the way you said. Others may have their own way.
Get both valves closed
tighten the poly-lock and spin the pushrod untill the push rod stops
1/4 turn on the poly-lock and tighten the set screw on the nut

Do Not Do that! do not try and set valve lash by turning the pushrods if this is your first time doing it... what you NEED to do is tighten down the poly lock so that it just remove all of the vertical play in the pushrod ie. you cant move it up or down.. i mean almost no preasure on the pushrod at all then ad a 1/4 turn more for lifter preload and tighten down the set screw

wannafbody,
Heres a good link to what your looking for. I was just looking at them the other day !!
http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...nfo/index.html
Find out from the manufacturer of your lifters how much to turn the adjusting nut but either way its going to be anywhere from 1/2 turn to a full turn.
Here is another source,

Yet another link with an alternative method,
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...alve-lash.html
The idea is that you want to turn the engine over till that valve is shut relative to the other valve for that cylinder which will be in the cycle of opening and closing. Tighten the rocker arm down to the point to where you begin to feel resistance as you spin the push rod in between your fingers. At this point you tighten down another 1/2 turn to 1 full turn. Then you tighten down the allen nut in the middle of the nut. After this I usualy like to tighten both simultaneously with the allen wrench and a box wrench.
Move on to the next valve and so on. Those articles are more detailed I just ran through the process really fast.
Good luck,
Rabi C.

yes those would be good ways to set valve lash with a new motor not with a enigne that has been run before as the oil from the pushrod will lube the rocker and disguise the "drag" you feel and if you end up cranking down on the lifters to much it will close the valves and wont allow oil up to the rockers
