car doesnt start
car doesnt start
my 88 gta doesnt start but does turn over. I think it is a ignition problem, because i pulled aspark plug out and it was wet with fuel, i changed the ignition module, and nothing i was going to change the coil but then i tested the connector and one has power when key on and the other doesnt get no signal. so now will it be the ECM or the distributer witch tell the ecm to fire the coil need help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The primary coil's current can be suddenly disrupted by the breakerpoints, or by a solid-state device in an electronic ignition. The key to the coil's operation is what happens when the circuit is suddenly broken by the points. The magnetic field of the primary coil collapses rapidly. The secondary coil is engulfed by a powerful and changing magnetic field. This field induces a current in the coils -- a very high-voltage current (up to 100,000 volts) because of the number of coils in the secondary winding. The secondary coil feeds this voltage to the distributor via a very well insulated, high-voltage wire. Replace it.
I pulled that from www.howstuffworks.com then search for ignition system...........how stuff works.com kicks the hell out of a haynes manual when you need things explained........
hope that helps

the secondary is the one that feeds the distributor...you said that the primary had power to it.........
primary gets charged like a little power transformer from the ignition source..... then its charge is interupted by the breaker points as explained above.........when that happens it overloads the secondary coil do to a changing magnetic wave that happens when coil 1 is interupted it supercharges it if you will.....then coil two feeds the distributor through a very well insulated high voltage wire..... so based on coil one having electrical feed back i would replace the secondary coil....
but then again im not a genious im just puking what i read......check it out and then see what you think.....it seems to make sense to me....... the best way to figure out how to make something work.... is to learn how it works

i got it it is the pick up coil i got it, toke the old one out and it was just falling apart, so that sould do it.
that site is good i was trying to figure what it was for more than a week but didnt know what i needed
