What's needed for a OEM roller cam setup
I may be able to get a 1993 350 that should have roller cam provisions. I'm sure it has a flat tappet cam since it was in a truck. I've been looking on ebay, and I see kits with all the OEM stuff (lifters, spider thing, dogbones, etc). Will I have to get the block machined or anything? Will I need a different timing chain set and new cover? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

really that all depends on the block... if the spider bosses where tapped if you have provisions for the thrust plate yes if you use the thrust plate you will need a different timing chain...if you dont you need a new timing cover and a cam thrust button

The chances that a truck block was machined for the roller cam provisions is pretty slim. Best way to know is to look at it. If it wasn't machined, it doesn't make much sense to have it machined - a lot of money for very little benefit.

Nah, I don't plan on machining anything myself. I thought that most blocks from 1990 on had roller cam provision, but some of those still had flat cams(mainly the trucks). What cars came with roller cammed 350's?
