summit starter

i had trouble installing the summit mini starter on my 1989 firebird formula, when i tried to put it upright, so that it wasnt close to the Y-pipe, something was hitting the bell housing, so i had to flip it over and install it the other way.

when i put my y-pipe back in place, it is VERY close to the starter, i'd say even touching it....... let me know if anyone else has had this problem? or what i could do about it?

yes it's always gonna be close to the y-pipe, just make sure your mesh has a good pattern on the flexplate

Re: summit starter

hey trans, do you use some sort of heat wrap on your starter? i've been having some starter problems it seems after the car has been idling, or driving at lot in general, it just won't turn over and i have to wait about 10-15minutes until it turns over
