Name this intake!
I bought this intake off ebay several years ago. I was told is was a Performer RPM
and it obviously isn't but the price was right so I used it. A HEI disributer hits the runner so I'm guessing it's old, and it has mounting holes for both syles of carbs. There are no numbers to be found. I appolgize for the pictures, I know it's hard to tell with the carb bolted on. Any ideas? It serves the purpose but I think it falls info the "perfomer" catagory instead of the "rpm" catagory and if so I might be better off with something else.
I've been looking for a better rpm style manifold, like a Edel Performer RPM Air Gap, Weiand Stealth, or Holley Street Dominator. Are there any articles or personal experiences actually comparing these? I'm not looking for "I own this manifold so it's the best" comments. Thanks for any input!

Too much stuff to see it clearly, but I'd say either a performer or 'stock type' weiand manifold.

There's an odd looking small protrusion over the end of # 1,2,7, and 8 runners close to where it meets the head. You can see it in the second picture. Ring any bells?

Yea, it's a low rise dual plane of some type - like a stock one.
No magnet sticks to it right? It is AL?
Looks like someone took enough time to polish it up, it's seen some lovin' that's for sure.

So I'd definately be better off with something else, any suggestions between the three I'm trying to pick from? From what I've read, they are all good, and the Air Gap is more money. Thanks!
Re: Name this intake!
It looks old, whatever it is. I don't think any intakes (stock or aftermarket) have had provisions for an intake-mounted breather/oil fill is DECADES. That's the big hole in the front of the intake, down low, near the thermostat housing. Your is plugged, obviously, since nobody but the restoration guys use that location for the breather/oil fill any more, but that's where it would have gone.
See how your alt. top bracket is hacked-n-modified to fit onto that intake? That's common when you try to fit newer style brackets onto old style intake.

I don't think it's a SP2P. Definately aluminum, checked it with a magnet. Any input on my new manifold selection? I'm leaning towards the Stealth, from what I've read I might have trouble fitting the Holley.

Definitely NOT the SP2P.
Not any of the old factory intakes.
I'm stumped. You're right, it's REALLY old; pre-69 kind of old. Having both sets of bolt holes but the thermostat housing where it won't support the earlier style of RH alt bracket, where the bracket went to a stud instead of a bolt at the pass side of the water neck, puts it between about 65 and 69 or maybe up into the early 70s, before the new style of brackets was important in the marketplace.

Definitely looks dual-plane, though, so it's not a Scorpion or a Tarantula. Who else made aluminum intakes back in the day, Offenhauser?

Re: Name this intake!
Doing some research, is this the "Stealth" everybody likes? It looks like Holley as maybe renamed this one to a "Action-Plus" and now the new Stealth looks like a Holley Street Dominator?

It's even got the oil fill tube hole, so at least was intended for a 60's SBC. But it doesn't have the AC bracket holes, has those "nubs" instead - I've seen those nub bosses on factory intakes, but don't recall any use for them. Don't see a divorced choke mount, but that may be hidden. Appears to have the exhaust cross-over.
Really looks like a home polish job to me. Probably ground off all identification marking in the process to make it "cleaner".
I'd guess an early Edelbrock, but that's a pure guess.

Re: Name this intake!
I like the Holley Street Dominator (300-36), but I've read a lot about having to use an old BBC drop filter base with a stock hood to clear. Is this true on an '82 Berlinetta?

Yeah the Street Dominator is a tall intake. I'm pretty sure you need some sort of drop base air cleaner.

Professional Products Power+Plus
Here's that product; actually called a Cyclone Plus. No resemblance. Unlike the one in question, the PP one fits 69-up cars.

Re: Name this intake!
If anybody's interested in knowing what I ended up doing, the Holley 300-36 is a huge improvement over this manifold and fits with a 1 3/8 drop filter base.
