help, engine has problem starting
Hi,
I have 91 formula ws6 with the 5 speed manual and dual cats. It is a 305TPI (LB9). I purchased the car from the previous owner with underdrive pulleys, MSD ignition and wires. he also said that the car had a new fuel pump installed, and also new spark plugs and msd ignition wires installed.
The car has a hard time starting after it has been sitting for several hours, like overnight. It will crank for a long time before it starts. When I turn the key to the on position, I do hear the fuel pump engage. After the car starts the first time. It starts very quickly after that. It does not have to crank long at all.
When I first try to start the car in the morning, the engine seems to turn over just fine, it just that it does not want to fire. It fires after it has been cranking for several seconds. This is something that has been happening for the last few days. Before that, it seemed to work just fine. Even when the weather was cold.
What could be causing my problem? Could it be dirty injectors, or a weak spark, or low fuel pressure? Does anyone have any experience with this sort of a problem?
The car seems to run just fine, with no unusual noises. It does not consume any oil, and seems to have plenty of power. I have put only about 2000 miles on the car after I bought it.
Please,
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Anatoly
