Do I still need this canister? Pics Inside

I have a 90 camaro with an LT1 swaped in. I believe this canister hooks to the fuel tank for some type of vent. Do I still need it? I do not have any plugs hooked up to it any more so I doubt that it functions properly. Thanks for the replies.

That is a charcoal canister, no you do have to have it. it is just to filter. It is to aid a vent tube.

that's funny 'cause that was one of the first things I ripped out of my car when I first got it (used about 7 months ago, I also don't need an e-check). All I want in my engine bay is the engine, and I guess the radiator too...

What should I do with the fuel line that it connects to then. Should I cap it off, put a fitler on it?

Put it back and watch your gas mileage go back up about 7% in hot weather. Or don't complain about gas prices. If you don't have room or want it under the hood, get a newer version which mounts under the vehicle.

so what exactly does this do? i took it out of mine a while ago and put a bolt in the hose that runs back to the fuel tank to plug it up, but i can still hear air moving in or out of it after i turn the car off if im under the hood. and if this is so important where would i get one that goes under the car?
