New Gauges where to put sending units ??

I will be putting in my new gauges soon and I was wondering where to mount the sending units. I want all the stock gauges to still work If possible and I dont know If I can tap into the old sending units it might throw the new gauges off because I am not using the autometer sending units. I have a temp gauge and I am assuming the new sending unit can go into the passenger side head? I have a oil pressure gauge where might there be another place to put in a new sending unit on the block( 1971 350 block). And the tranny temp gauge in the return line to see how well its cooling or in the pan?

Depending upon your heads, there should be an additional, and available, pipe plugged opening to mount an additional temperature sending unit. If the heads do not have spare holes, the other options are teh intake coolant crossover or the thermostat housing.

On an older block, you'll likely have to remove the pipe plug above the oil filter boss to install an additional sending unit or tubing adapter for your gauge (the brass hex plug in the photo):

I'd suggest installing the transmission temperature gauge sending unit in the pan. That's going to give a more accurate reading of peak temperature, and is where the factory puts them in later transmission (well, actually on the valve body, but it's close enough).

Thanks, Just hope I can put that oil sending unit in without hitting the long tube headers.
