Re: Comp Springs, Lock and Retainer Help

I know that those are the correct retainers for the springs. I'll take your word for it on the locks- they look right from the specs.

Don't overlook the installed height of the spring! Different heads the installed height could end up all over the map- shimming may be required. Too tall and you loose pressure. Too short and you could hit coil bind at max lift.

A decent quality valve height mic is expensive- about $80- and worth every penny. Buy it and keep it in your tool kit. If you futz around with engines more than just once in a while you'll be glad you shelled out for one.

Thanks for the help Damon.

Whats the meaning of "recessed for lash caps"?

I see summit has a height mic for $40. Its from 1.400 to 1.800. I cant find out and dont know what the install height is for these springs. Would it be over 1.800"?

Re: Comp Springs, Lock and Retainer Help

Lash caps are small hardened "buckets" that can be put on the valve tip (upside-down) to prevent the rocker tip from digging/grinding into the valve tip in high-pressure situations. You don't need them, beleive me, and it won't hurt anything by not using them with those locks.
