junk in engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was on a mission today to install a fuel pressure reg. and a new set of injectors in my tpi 305 Iroc. When I got down to the base intake I noticed alot of reminents of critters that had bedded on my intake since the car sat for alot of years so I thought that it should be cleaned thinking that the nut shells and what looked like cat hair could be a fire hazard. So I removed the base so I could properly clean it and what I saw under the intake blew me away it had some sort of build up all in the lifter gallery and it was especially bad under the heat crossover port. is there anything I could do about this. I thought it should be fairly clean being it only has 60,000 miles on it, but I guess it could have been poorly maintained over those miles. I would really like to remedy this prob. also before I knew it was this nasty I installed some sea foam in the oil will this help or will it break it loose and make it clogg the oil passages. Thanks

Re: junk in engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well the junk i assume is black and is oil buildup the only way to really stop it is to use synthetic or a really high quality engine oil like something 3-4 dollars a quart... Now i am not telling you to go out and run synth after 60k probably not a good idea but switch oils to a higher quality the sludge wont stop but it will be much less.

if you are going to sea foam it will break up the junk and wash it through the engine might be ok might not i would try and clean as much out as possible by hand first then change the oil after about 50 miles with seafoam and a filter too
