Ok to give you a little back ground on my car its a 1984 firebird trans am the motor in it the guy said came out of a 87 firebird 305 when i bought hte car it came with a 600 cfm edlebrock carb eldelbrock performance intake shortie headers not sure what brand im thinking headman but when i went to get it it had no plug wires or exhaust still dosnt have exhaust on it i just have the mufler witch is a flowmaster just put in a new flexplate and starter i have a 168 tooth flexplate now insted of the 153 tooth and i also have a th350 trany ijust finished putting in the other day. but was wondering how to set the time in it and where to look to set it i know its been covered a frew times but im still a little confrused on how to do it also the butterfly on my carb dosnt open when you press the accelerator if anyone could help i would be in your deabs .

Loosen the distributor bolt, and turn the distributor housing, and re-tighten the bolt.

Pull the drivers side valve cover off. Turn the engine over until you can see the intake valve open and then close. The timing mark should be coming up to the tdc mark. Pull the distributor cap off and see if the rotor is pointing at the position for number 1 spark plug. If it isn't either turn the distributor until it does or pull it out and put it back in so it does. Tighten down the distributor clamp and it should start and run.
