Rebuilt engine-no start-need help!!!!

Replaced tired 305 tbi with rebuilt 350 tpi. New wiring harness with all connectors labeled, new holly fuel pump. Engine cranks, fuel pump not running. jumper to the fuel pump and pump runs. Crank engine again, I get spark but no fuel, I give it a shot of starting fluid and it fires and runs until the starting fluid is gone. checked the pump fuse, and relay, they're ok. seems to be a fuel problem. injectors don't seem to be working along with the fuel pump. ANY SUGGESTIONS?????

Re: Rebuilt engine-no start-need help!!!!

it's an 89. found out the ecm wasn't getting power so we hooked up a power feed from the battery. everything worked then, including the fuel pump. idle is too high, and the fans didn't cool enough. had to wire the fans to come on as soon as the key was on to cool the engine. that seemed to work. now the temp is way below 220. also had to get a new oil sender/switch because it wasn't sending a signal to turn on the fuel pump. other than the idle being too high (about 1200-1400), everything seems to be ok, no ses light either!!! any suggestions on lowering the idle?

Re: Rebuilt engine-no start-need help!!!!

all my problems seem to have been caused by a bad maf sensor. swapped that out and everything seems to be working now.
